A leak a couple of days ago by Kotaku talked about an Assassin’s Creed installation called Origins that was set to release at some point, and the E3 trailer today all but confirmed that theory. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is the official title of the upcoming game from Ubisoft Montreal, who was last in charge of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
This time around, you play as Bayek, an Egyptian assassin fighting against corrupted officials (one of which goes by the name of Medunamun in this trailer) that leads to the formation of the Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood that is a cornerstone in every Assassin’s Creed game.
The game showed off a gorgeous and simple RPG style of gameplay, with the ability to pick up and use new weapons and armor with stats. The game also showed off a leveling system for you and enemies, loot drops, and customizable abilities. The gameplay stuck to a simple shield and bow and arrow combat, but did show off Bayek’s ability to use a hawk as an overhead scouting tool, since towers are no longer in this Assassin’s Creed game. The hawk lets you see enemy’s levels from the air and allows you to plan before acting.
Origins will have a season pass DLC that Ubisoft says will “give players access to all upcoming major expansions and equipment sets” including one called “Secrets of the First Pyramids” as a pre-order bonus if the box art leak is true.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is set to release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 27th, 2017. The official trailer is below, with the gameplay trailer showing off combat and the RPG system below that.
